50 years of PACT & Fringe premiere of movement-generated BODYSCAPES
On Thursday 11 September, we spoke about PACT’s 50th birthday and Sydney Fringe Festival performance ‘Bodyscapes’.
PACT’s Artistic Director, Katrina Douglas took us back to 1960s and explained why the centre for emerging artists (PACT) was established in the first place. What has she found going through the archives in preparation for PACT’s birthday party (taking place on 18 October) and where is PACT heading in the years to come?
Mary Mainsbridge, Sydney based audio-visual artist talked about her movement generated sound-work ‘Bodyscapes’ showing at PACT as part of Sydney Fringe. Why is a sound artist exploring dance and physical theatre? Could a body be seen as a resonating wire? What happens when we use movement detection technology to generate sounds and visuals?
